Randolph College is a private liberal arts college located in Lynchburg, which is an independent city in the Commonwealth of Virginia, with nearly 74 000 people, living within its boundaries, according to the 2009 census estimate.
The college was established in 1891 and was founded by William Waugh Smith, then-president of Randolph-Macon College. It first started as a women's college, called Randolph-Macon Woman's College, and adopted its current name in July, 2007, when it became co-ed.
Today, Randolph College offers its students a number of 50 majors and minors, 7 pre-professional programs (law, medicine, education, physical education and health, and business), as well as cooperative career programs in nursing and engineering, and study abroad programs, plus several other educational opportunities.
Randolph's athletic teams are known as the Wildcats and they compete in NCAA Division III. Their mascot is Wanda the WildCat.
